Sweet friends and family,
As some of you know, I have been accepted to study this summer in Beauvais, France (see here for more info). This is a 5-week Cooking for Health program at Institut Polytechnique LaSalle-Beauvais. In addition to this workshop, I will have a one-month internship to develop innovative and educational culinary workshops for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Together with patients, their family and the medical staff, these workshops create recipes to counteract the side effects of cancer treatments and restore the patient’s “taste” for cooking and food consumption.
The program begins May 16th, and I want to be able to acquire the best training and skills to guide my success in this field. This internship will provide me with paramount practical experience as a Food Science and Human Nutrition major with a concentration in Dietetics. As an aspiring dietitian, I know that I hold in my hands the tools to heal, prevent disease, and educate our community. I am incredibly grateful that I am being presented with the opportunity to strengthen these tools on an international scale.
As is in the nature of many internships, this opportunity is unpaid. I have limited funds remaining in my 2015-2016 financial aid package to cover the costs and I’m asking for help to cover baseline expenses including roundtrip airline program fees, meals and incidentals. Any monetary donation will be a huge help.
The $5,000 required breaks down to:
$3,774 - Program Tuition
$1,225 - Round Trip Airfare
