Welcome to my GoFundMe. I am asking you to help me reach my transportation funding goal.
Many of you know me as an artist, Sketch Lady Barbara of Art Images Live, as well as a mother, a member of your congregation, an SO swim coach or a person you may have met at a gym. My creative dream is to combine 45 years of art training, experience and gesture art while launching a unique performing arts project. My personal dream is to be able to share time with you and my four children, three of whom are not local and cannot be reached via public transportation.
I am sixty-one and live with degenerative disk disease. Most recently, degenerative disk disease is challenging my ability to maintain an active life. I do not have a car and rely on public transportation for all of my professional and personal needs. I often lose art opportunities including staging exhibits because I do not have a means to attend events, transport supplies, paintings, and the performance visual arts stand. Losing these opportunities has led to financial difficulties for me. Currently, I use a cart to transport personal items, art materials, drawing pads, canvases, and food. Most buses or trains require me to empty and fold the cart and secure all items. You can imagine how difficult it is to load and unload the cart alone on a crowded bus where there is little space to store my supplies and usually no straps to secure them. I cannot stay stable and safe and I often lose or damage items. This is the first winter my spinal issues are preventing me from pushing the cart extended distances which is especially difficult in very cold, hot, or wet weather.
Having a car will allow me to accept more work opportunities, keep my supplies in good condition, and relieve the physical stress of working with this disease. With funding, I will be able to purchase a dependable vehicle that will accommodate my physical and professional needs.
With your help, 2016 will be an exciting and rewarding year! I have built a strong foundation for my small business, Art Images Live. I am in the midst of filming and editing a video about my current performing visual art project. These videos include some talented local musicians and have been made possible by a scholarship from The ArtsCenter and The Peoples Channel.
