Mission Trip to Kenya

Donation protected
Dear family and friends,

God has presented to us a challenging ministry opportunity we would like to share with you. We will be going to Kenya – in east Africa, October 12-23, 2014! There will be a group of us traveling together from White River Christian Church located in Noblesville, Indiana. While in Kenya, we will serve in the slums of Nairobi. Our team will be working in conjunction with Christian Missionary Fellowship mission that has worked for many years in Kenya.

In Nairobi, we will be working in the slums called Mathare Valley. Approximately one million people live in this unbelievable part of the city. It is among the worst slums of all Africa. The poverty and hopelessness of the people is almost beyond description – people live in houses the size of closets built on heaps of trash - without electricity or running water. Personal possessions are almost non-existent. HIV/AIDS is rampant. But, the mission is bringing hope to the people. Thousands of children are being educated, receiving medical treatments, and daily nutritional meals. Hundreds of small businesses are being started through Micro-enterprise loans to provide a way for parents to earn a living to care for their families. Our team will be a part of this work by doing simple projects like installing small pieces of Plexiglas in the roofs to allow sunlight to enter so they can actually see inside their "homes." We also will be providing medical screenings & treatment, food distribution, encouragement and Bible teaching. Our team will be working with hundreds of children who attend school at a building that our church helped to build several years ago.

We’re excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. Since Tommy (Rachel’s husband and Aubrey’s dad) returned from this area in 2011, it has been our desire to also visit this place that is now near to the heart of our whole family. Rachel has long had a passion for the mission field and Aubrey has felt the call in regards to this area of Africa for several years, if not most of her life. We are beyond excited that the Lord has chosen this time for us to experience this mission together. We hope you see the value in what we will accomplish - working with children and their parents to bring hope to one of the world's largest slums.

The total cost of the trip for the two of us is $6,800. Due to the amount raised already, we have about $4,200 left to raise. If you can support us in a financial way, we would be very grateful. Most importantly, we need your prayer support. Prayer is what will allow us to be successful as we follow God’s leading in teaching His Word. Please pray daily for this mission and the people of Kenya. We are enclosing a prayer card that you can return in the envelope provided. If you choose to help with the costs of the trip, please see the instructions below. Only as a team can we reach those in desperate need.

Sincerely,

Aubrey and Rachel Brolsma
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14
