This campaign is in response to the outpouring and love that so many have shown and the many requests of "how can we help."
As many of you already know, Charlee's Daddy, Chris Bennett (bother, son, cousin, friend, coworker, to the rest of us) suffered a severe head injury after crashing on his dirt bike on Thursday, July 20th. Yes, he was wearing all the right equipment (including a full face helmet) and taking all the right precautions, and not doing anything reckless. Sometimes, these things just happen. Thankfully, an off duty EMT was nearby and took notice of his behavior after his accident and quickly drove him to the nearest ER which was only a few miles away. Upon arrival, he was fading from consciousness completely and immediately rushed to surgery. From the time of his accident, to the time of surgery was less than an hour. This quick action has saved his life. However, he has a log road ahead of him and recovery won't be easy. His insurance plan is a good one covering 80% of his care. Unfortunaely that other 20% is going to add up quickly. We've placed this campaign at $50,000 for a start although we really have no idea just how much is going to be needed.
Charlee continues to ask about her Daddy. For now she is aware that he is needing lots of rest to heal and that we're all working to get him home soon. But, at only 4 years old, days apart from him can feel like a lifetime.
