We need your help!

My parents home, our childhood home, the family home, is always the central hub for us, where we gather together from wherever in the world we've scattered to. Always met with a warm embrace, a hot cup of tea and a walk down memory lane as we snoop around our old bedrooms with fondness. What happens when it is ravaged by floods over the course of 3 nights...

I have watched as my parents faced down the biggest of challenges throughout my life. Cancers, floodings (yes this happened before through no fault of their own), loss, ups and downs but this time is like no other.

In the early hours of a Sunday morning our family home, with my vulnerable parents inside, began to let in water. Cold and dirty water. It was moving fast. All they could do was sit and watch as the water level rose and rose. The floodline was called but going into Sunday and Sunday night, nobody had been in touch and there was ANOTHER alert out for flooding.

Everything we watched our Mum and Dad work for for so many years was destroyed.

By Monday there was as much flooding inside the house as there was outside the house. The water deep and dirty. Contaminated and still the levels were rising.

It's been traumatising and has affected our family in so many ways. Not least in losing our beloved family dog Buddy in the middle of trying to cope with everything else.

Our medically vulnerable parents were left wading through floodwater in their home.

These people who have worked their whole lives to put a roof over our heads currently have little to nothing left.

They have never been ones to ask for help. In fact they have passed on their stubbornness to their daughters but this time is different.
