The money I am trying to raise would work to cover the upfront costs of the $825 space fee and lighting/costumes/etcetera.
The updated goal would cover sending the full cast up to Maine to participate in the Barn Arts Collective Residency .
If we can get these costs covered up front, we will be able to donate the ticket proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union .
Thank you for your help and we hope to see you at the workshop/work in progress shows on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!
In The Worker Must Have Bread, but She Must Have Roses Too, an all-immigrant and all-female cast brings new life to the story of the young factory workers who were victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire in 1911. The performance combines original scenes, devised dance and movement, text from interviews of the survivors sourced from Leon Stein’s book “The Triangle Fire”, and extracts of the court case that speak for the voiceless victims of yesterday and today’s factory disasters. The play serves to critique and explore topics such as the equity of the American dream, the fallacies of capitalist regimes, and the unconditional nature of hope.
