This is an important topic that is universal. As a filmmaker I feel it is important to use this platform to give a voice to topics that affect my community. The numbers in which MMIW come from ,can unfortunately, be at the hands of others lurking in our own communities ,disguised as community members, locals and family friends. I have my own experience with domestic violence and I am grateful that, I realized the toxicity and found a way, to walk away. However my realist fear of this monster was realized, domestic violence , when it hit too close to home. My daughter entering into a relationship that would end in abuse.
"Two years ago, I walked away from someone very poisonous. I wished I would have done that sooner instead of allowing him to put me in the hospital. But I overcame it. I put it behind me and I never once looked back. I’m grateful that I’m still alive. I’m grateful for my family. Grateful for the friends I made along the way. I lost myself in 2017, healed in 2018 Found who I was 2019 and now it’s time to conquer 2020!Walking away from a domestic relationship was the best/ hardest decision I made in my life. But I learned that I need to always put myself first. And I will continue to put myself first." ~Ashly Hines
The monster of abuse is real and not only does it rip people's lives apart it emotionally and literally tears hearts apart too. Please help me tell this story in a unique dramatic way that is sure to nail the message home through my Thesis film......

But when the Tribal Police arrive Mary, realizes that she should have payed attention a lot sooner.
