Buses to Black Panther

The Black Panther Movie premieres on February 16, 2018. This epic movie is more than just a film. It is an opportunity for African American children to see their own images on the screen. It is the opportunity for African American children to hear a story of a people that look like them, and sound like them, and are depicted in a positive light, which is different than the narrative that is usually told on film. It is the opportunity for African American to hear of an African nation that is independent and technologically advanced. And while yes it is fictional, it is a visualization of the power and influence that so many African countries had prior to colonization and western interference.

The Black Panther movie is a MUST SEE EVENT for African American children. We're determined to take our students to see it! We just need a little help making sure that it's affordable for all of them. If we can cover the cost of the bus, students would only have to pay $5.00 to see the film. We're looking to fund 5 buses. That would transport 225 students-our entire 5th-8th grade student body.
