Bursaries for Chimbota Secondary School Students

BACKGROUND
In 2018 I spent six months volunteering at Chimbota Secondary School in northern Malawi. Chimbota was born from the need to bring affordable, quality secondary education to an area of rural Malawi where state education was remote, leaving hundreds of kids to face either a two-three hour commute or the end of their education.
This year, Chimbota has started renting a couple of village houses nearby to accommodate the last year students who want to live closer to school, thus maximising on their learning time. This highly increases the chance of more students staying in school and sitting their exams, as they won't have to face long walks to and from school, as well as the chance they might get stuck at home caring for the family or working in the fields.
WHAT CHIMBOTA NEEDS HELP WITH
Chimbota School pays for the rent of the houses, but students need to self-board. This puts extra financial strain on families, and some students have given up the option of staying in the houses this term due to a lack of funds.
These young boys and girls are the most committed I've ever seen: some who sat their exams last June and were unhappy with the result are VOLUNTARILY resitting the year at school to get better results, thus increasing their chances of getting a University scholarship from the State.
Let's help them be closer to school and support them with food bursaries so they can concentrate on studying!
EVERY LITTLE HELPS
This year, ditch the Christmas frenzy and make a real present: help a student get an education.
- £15 pay for a student's food for a month
- £60 pay for a student's food for a term
- £120 pay for a student's food for two terms
The more money we can collect, the more students we can help!
Whatever is left over will be used for school improvements, such as buying a pump to have running water, paying for electricity, etc.
