Burial For Nikiena & Jace Rettig (mom & baby)

I am writing this because Dana Allen is like family to me, one of my own. Her family suffered an unimaginable trauma today. Instead of bringing home a baby, they are planning a funeral for her sister & baby. This is one of those stories that shouldn't happen in this world of medicine.
Today, July 9th, was a normal day- Nikiena Rettig's due date. She went into labor, which never happens on a due date. She had a normal, happy, uneventful pregnancy. Her story didn't start there though. 3 years ago, the father of her 2 daughters, her husband- Stephen, he didn't wake up one morning. He was epileptic, had a massive seizure in his sleep. It was fatal, leaving her & the girls behind.
This new baby Jace, and her fiance, this was a whole new life start for them all. She went into labor, right on the due date which never happens. Labor progressed normally. A little after 2am, Niki immediately went into cardiac arrest. She coded. They brought her back, did an immediate c-section to get Jace out. It wasn't successful, Jace couldn't be revived. They tried to get Niki into surgery as she was losing blood, and continuously coding, but couldn't stabilize her. They brought a team from the Heart Hospital in with equipment, but were too late. Niki would go on to code 4 more times, and the last- they couldn't bring her back. Jace left this world around 2:30am, and Niki right after 12pm.
She is leaving behind 2 beautiful little girls, who now have NO PARENTS. Their father & mother are both gone now. Their mom left home last night, and they expected her to bring them a baby sibling back. They had no idea it was the last time they would see her, and that there would be no baby.
This family is very close to mine, they are beyond devastated. These are expenses they never expected and aren't prepared for. A double funeral, for mama & baby, it isn't cheap. And we want to see them buried gracefully, with respect. Any amount helps, even $5. Anything left after the services will go towards care for the girls. Niki worked part time as an LPN in a nursing home, she did Paparazzi Jewelry sales. That doesn't come with much life insurance. Again, I stress ANYTHING helps!!
