Building life after a fire
Donation protected
Please help Daniela and Colin as they recover from a tragic fire that took their apartment and all of their belongings early Sunday morning.
Starting in the cellar below Universel restaurant, the fire spread through the building and into the residential units above. Daniela awoke to the smell of smoke and quickly woke her partner and neighbours, making sure everyone was evacuated.
Ophelia, their cat, is safe and sound, and seeking respite at the SPCA.
Daniela is a strong community member who makes space for artists and musicians in the city. She is an artistic collaborator, curator, and the founder of Mothlight, a space that promotes emerging artists in the city. She values the strength of community building and connection, and holds that with her partner, Colin. Colin is an artist currently studying at Concordia. He dedicates his work to having a more ecological awareness by using found objects and working with natural homemade pigments.
Both folks have lost an irreplaceable collection of keepsakes, artwork and heirlooms. Beyond these cherished souvenirs, they have lost all practical items.
We are asking for monetary donations to assist in the costs of rebuilding a life: everything from kitchen items, new clothes, table and chairs, a bed, art supplies, books, a computer, etc. If monetary donations aren't possible but you happen to have other items, please find us (Mischa or Emily). Daniela and Colin are working hard to stay in good spirits.
Let's celebrate Daniela and Colin's love and resiliance by helping them to rebuild their lives.
