Beginning in 1999, I have been consumed by the idea that there must be a better way to ignite the full potential and power of individuals and organizations. At that time, my focus was on confronting hazing in my own organization. As a direct result of my own dramatic experience with hazing, I knew that dysfunctional organizations were doing irreparable harm to individuals, communities, and to the organizations themselves.
Organizations are in need of a powerful strategy for building people up without tearing them down.
Since that time, my quest has led me to:
-Publish original research on the definitions of hazing across different organizations
-14 years of service to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, including roles as:
-Career Coach;
-Academic Advisor;
-Adjunct Faculty for the Carlson School of Management, College of Biological Sciences, Leadership Minor, and Office of Undergraduate Education;
-Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life; and
-Student Activities Advisor,
-Assume a leadership role with the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization,
-Earn a certification as a Board Certified Coach,
-Earn a certification as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach,
-Receive multiple professional awards, including Anti-Hazing Hero by HazingPrevention.Org (2007), FIPG Outstanding Greek Life Professional (2010), and student-voted Staff of the Year (2018) for the Carlson School of Management, and
-Numerous coaching, consulting, and speaking opportunities across the United States.
Through all of those experiences, I crafted strategies for developing individuals and organizations in positive and transformative ways.
I gathered the best of these strategies, illustrating them with inspirational examples, in an all new book, "Building Up Without Tearing Down: How to Cultivate Heroic Leadership in You and Your Organization,” which will be officially released Fall 2018!
In the process of writing this book, I partnered with the best professional writing coach, designer, and editor, making sure “Building Up Without Tearing Down,” a 300-page beautifully designed hardcover book.
Kindle and digital copies are available now, and hardcover copies will be shipped by the end of July, allowing you to get your hands on one before the official release this fall.
Now, I want to get as many copies of this book into as many people’s hands as possible, including yours!
