Help Build an Alpaca-assisted Ecotherapy Centre

Hi there, my name is Martha and I’m a qualified counsellor who is fundraising to build a weatherproof workshop area that will enable me to deliver an innovative alpaca-assisted outdoor therapy programme to women suffering from mental health disorders.

In 2010, I was a young Mum who needed counselling but found sitting in a room with four walls too overwhelming. Having suffered with mental and physical health issues for years, I had lost all belief that counselling could work for me. I was fortunate to have an amazing health team who recognised my needs and eventually I found a therapeutic intervention that helped begin my healing journey. Not everyone is as lucky as I was and I’m grateful to know that I’m now in a position to offer support for those who need help but are struggling to find the right approach for them.

Since graduating with a counselling degree from The University of Bath in 2015, it’s been my privilege to support many vulnerable people build confidence and enable them to access much needed life changing mental health treatment.

Fresh out of university, I was fortunate to work for an amazing charity which believed in my ability to develop and facilitate science based innovative workshops which I delivered in places of natural beauty. Individuals who had struggled to engage in ‘traditional’ mental health services found the workshops engaging and they began to find confidence in counselling that they had previously been lacking.

In 2019, research began to create an outdoor therapeutic programme specifically for individuals who were anxious about engaging in counselling.

2022 is the year to create peace and help people heal more than ever. This programme won’t be right for everyone but it is designed to help those women, who like me, want to feel they can cope and build the life they deserve.

With your support I will be able to provide more counselling opportunities. Once the weatherproof workshop area has been built, any extra funds raised by this ‘go fund me’ appeal will be used to provide free counselling to women in need.
