Build a Longer Table
Donation protected
The holiday season has us wanting to spend time with the people who are important to us but also presents an opportunity to extend hospitality beyond just a meal.
We want to host you for a memorable evening, modeled after a dinner party we recently attended called Build a Longer Table. We will prepare drinks and a delicious dinner inspired by the cuisines of many refugees' home countries. Together with you, our friends, we will break bread with refugees who have resettled in the Bay Area and hear their stories.
Joining the dinner requires a $65 donation per person, which will include all food and drink. If you're inclined, you can donate $100 and also receive a copy of the upcoming The Immigrant Cookbook .
Proceeds will go directly to:
International Rescue Committee (Oakland Chapter): The International Rescue Committee is providing protection, health care, clean water, sanitation, resettlement assistance and more to Syrian refugees in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. There’s more to do, and we need your help.
How to Join our Dinner
Sunday, December 10 at 7:00pm
We are excited to share that this dinner is sold out. Thanks to everyone who has made a donation.
Excited to make a difference together.

For those who don’t yet know us:
We are Andrew Schapiro and Bosco Hernández, two professional designers from San Francisco, CA. Together, we share a belief in equity, hospitality, and opportunity for all people.
We are working with Maggie Berkemeyer, Development Manager of the Oakland chapter of the International Rescue Committee, to put on this fundraiser. Jenny Raymond, former president of the GenR chapter and current Advocacy Chair of the IRC will be at the dinner to share a bit about the organization.
Thanks to in-kind donations for food, live music, decor, and our venue, we expect to donate more than 80% of funds raised directly to the IRC this year. Funds from this Go Fund Me campaign will be withdrawn by us and donated to the IRC via personal check.
