Buddy, a Shepherd rescue, beloved mascot for Vinyl Junkies and my best friend has been diagnosed with lymphoma - a common type of cancer for an uncommon dog.
If you’re reading this as a customer of Vinyl Junkies, it’s likely you met him while he sat on his favorite orange chair, noticed him on our T-shirts, or maybe you even bought a slipmat for your record player and see his face every time you play your favorite album. He's the sweetest 9-year-old boy who brings joy to so many people who visit the shop.
Unfortunately, my best friend was diagnosed with cancer (Lymphoma) and has started chemotherapy. As you would imagine, this treatment isn't cheap. It's chemo every week for the first two months and then every other week for 4 more months. Then, of course, there are blood tests, biopsies, additional medication, etc. The bills have already started to pile up with the weekly visits so I decided to reach out to friends and the music loving community through this campaign. Buddy means the world to me and also to so many people who shop at Vinyl Junkies. Anything you can give to help him out would be appreciated more than you know.
It's not easy for me to articulate how much of an impact Buddy has had on my life. We have been through many ups and downs in life over the past several years and he has taught me a million lessons along the way. Even this latest setback with his diagnosis is an opportunity for me to grow as a person. One of the amazing things our four-legged friends bring to the table when we find each other.
Thank you so much for your support during this tough time. It’s of utmost importance to me to keep Buddy around as long as possible, while taking into account his quality of life throughout this process. Fortunately, when the cancer was discovered, he was still feeling good and his blood work came back without any other issues discovered. The Oncologist said he’s in as good of shape as you would hope for when starting treatment with chemo.
