Band Director Needs Our Help!

Donation protected
IMPORTANT: This project is to be kept a secret from Mr. Lyncheski! We are hoping to surprise him at the end of the year marching band banquet! We are going to be closing donations around the first of June.

Help us help our band director!

Music is something that brings many people of all ages together. Through the tumultuous time that is high school, it is hard for many students to find a passion, or even simply, somewhere where they fit in.

Marching Band is an imperative organization in a High School for several reasons. It gives the students a safe place where they can learn, grow, and understand responsibilities, teamwork, self-motivation and discipline better going into the future. In addition, it adds a sense of liveliness to football games and adds to the whole idea of growing together as a school to work towards a bright future. That being said, a great organization cannot be established without a great teacher.

The Marching Band at Brick Township High School is lead by Mr. David Lyncheski, and has been for several years. The band has been all over the country, and has won several notable awards throughout its existence. Without Mr. Lyncheski's guidance, the band would not be where it is today. As the head of the organization, he has worked around several obstacles and will do whatever he can to make ends meet, just to see the students succeed.

This year, Mr. Lyncheski had to get surgery on his foot to re-correct the bones in his arch, and will be getting his other foot done as well. This surgery has debilitated him, causing him to have to hop around the band room on one foot (which is quite dangerous) and use a walker. The band season starts in late July and goes on until November and he will not be completely healed until June of 2016 if everything goes right. Therefore, maneuvering on the field for 9 hour rehearsals in August, traveling on the bus, and many other logistical yet basic things are going to be extremely difficult for him. At some schools, the walk from the bus lot to the football field is nearly a half a mile long through dirt, grass and around other equipment trucks. 100% of the proceeds donated will go directly to purchasing a golf cart in hopes to make these imperative tasks a lot easier for him, eliminating the risk of further injury.

We are calling upon people who care for the future of music education and understand the trials many bands throughout the country have to go to just to make ends meet to give one of the most resilient and hard working man I have ever known a chance to continue doing what he loves without the possibility of injuring himself further. Regardless of how difficult basic tasks are for him now, he still insists on getting things done the way they need to be done. He has done so much for so many people as an educator, and has improved the lives of hundreds of students. He truly cares about his students, and is constantly pushing them to their limits just to see them succeed.

We do not want to see him leave the program so soon due to something like this, and I am afraid, like many others, that this is a huge possibility. With the use of a golf cart, he will easily be able to move about the field and at competitions.

For the sake of the future of this Marching Band, please consider making a donation.

Thank you so much.
