My name is Valentine Ngubejoh Atabongankeng , resident in Houston Texas. I am an alumni of Seat of Wisdom College Fontem, Cameroon and I currently serve as the national president of the college ex-students' association (SWESA) in the USA.
Seat of Wisdom College Fontem is a college in Cameroon that has had a reputation of academic excellence for decades. The current socio-political upheavals in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon has jeopardized the smooth functioning of this academic institution since last academic year 2015/16.
The school that usually has a population of over 500 students registered less than 60 students for the 2017/18 academic year. This low census makes it challenging to meet up with the salaries of the staff since the source of their remuneration is basically from the tuition paid by students.
The teachers of this institution have not received any salary since June 2017 as a result of no funds. Hence, supporting themselves and families has become almost impossible as they live off of zero income.
When I had a phone conversation with the college principal about the sad situation, her priority is to pay these teachers who have gone for about 6 months without salaries. The principal has sent out an appeal letter for funds (a copy attached herein).
The college has exhausted all the funds collected from the 60 registered students and there's a high risk that the plight of these teachers will push them to abandon their contracts. This will have a negative impact on the academic excellence that the college has preserved for about five decades.
The goal of this fundraising is to PUT A SMILE on the faces of these selfless teachers as they prepare for next semester.
100% of money raised will go directly to the teachers through the principal.
Please, every dollar will create a great impact, don't consider it to be small.
