B-Strong - Roxanne's GBS Fight

Donation protected
Our mom who all the kids call "Ahme" (Roxanne Bliss) (B-Strong) who is an amazing person and Nurse Practitioner was getting ready for work on January 6, 2018 like any other day when she collapsed. She ended up going to the emergency room at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA. She was diagnosed with Guillam Barre Syndrome (GBS) an extremely rare disease.  She has been in the hospital since that day. GBS attacks a person's nervous system, eventually leaving the person paralyzed but able to feel excruciating nerve pain all over your body.

GBS takes over your muscles as well (starting from your feet working it's way up to your throat and then back down when you recover), therefore after being in the hospital for two days she was intubated due to GBS taking over her diaphragm. After two weeks of having the ventilator breathing for her and her still not being strong enough to breathe on her own, she had a tracheostomy. She is still currently on the ventilator and paralyzed but fully coherent and knows exactly what is going on.  She spent 25 days in the ICU at Overlake, with some of the best nurses and doctors I've ever met.  On February 1, 2018 she was transferred to a long term ICU facility in Washington that is able to care for people who are on ventilators.

Our Ahme had just changed companies, therefore; she did not have a lot of paid time off available. I have been debating starting a Gofundme page due to my mom being such a private person, however; I've had so many family members and her amazing friends ask me to set one up so I decided to create her a page to share her journey with all of the amazing people in her life. If you are not able to help financially we understand and ask for you to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

To date, our Ahme has been in the ICU for 51 days. We have not been able to hear her voice for 49 of those days. You never think that you won't be able to hear someone's voice the next day when you send them to your voicemail or send them a text instead of calling them. All we want to do right now is hear Ahme's voice. We will not be able to do that until she is able to breathe on her own and right now, there is no time frame set. GBS with some people takes a couple of months to recover from, some people it takes a year or more. We are praying that Ahme is better within the few months time frame! We are hopeful our prayers will be answered.

This money raised will be used to help pay her house payment, her other bills including the medical bills, it will help me and my family get new items she needs while in the ICU (soft blankets instead of hard hospital blankets, and other personal products), it will also help take care of her animals (2 cats and a horse).

I will update the page once a week with her weekly progress. The power of prayer is an amazing huge thing. Mom use to tell me she was putting the biggest football angels around me, now it's my time to do the same for her. I ask all of you to join me.
