On Thursday, May 12th, my cousin, Bryce Summary, was in Chicago, IL for a conference and was walking on the sidewalk on Michigan Ave. (Aka "Magnificent Mile") with his wife Amy when he was struck and briefly pinned by a vehicle that was fleeing the police. Most of Bryce's ribs were broken on the right side, and both of his legs took significant damage. Thankfully, his wife, Amy, was not hit by the vehicle. As fate would have it, the crash occurred only a few blocks from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and a couple of healthcare workers were nearby and could immediately apply tourniquets to his injuries.
Bryce has already had multiple surgeries and has a very long road ahead in terms of his recovery and the use of his legs. He is strong and in good spirits, but he and his family could use your support. The family has been transplanted from St. Louis to Chicago to be by Bryce's side during this difficult time. Your financial donations will help cover the many, many expenses the family is facing.
Here is a link to the story that ran on the local Chicago news. The news story states "the victim was in 'good condition,' which certainly misrepresents Bryce's current situation.
