In memory of Bruce Barnes

This page has been set up with consent to raise funds for Bruce Barnes family: Jenny, Rosie (14) and William (12). Funds raised will go directly to Jenny’s account.

Bruce died suddenly aged 53 on 25/12/2022 shortly after the family opened their Christmas stockings In the presence of Jenny and Daniel (Bruce’s younger brother). Jenny shared “Bruce and I had 16 years of a wonderful marriage, we didn’t always agree but had a lot of love and laughter. Bruce was extremely proud of Rosie & William.” Bruce also supported his Mum, Susan, brilliantly.

Bruce was born and bred in Lancashire, moving to his family farm in North Sheffield as a child.

Bruce was our well loved Fruit & Veg man in S10 & S11, Sheffield and will be sorely missed. Bruce supported the community so well for decades (especially in difficult Covid times) and took over the veg round from his Dad, Tom. Bruce arrived in all weathers with the best vegetables and his caring and cheerful disposition, always willing to help and very intuitive to his customers needs. Bruce was also an avid supporter of Wortley Rugby Union and Green Moor Cricket Club who have both paid tribute.

Bruce will be sadly missed by all his family, friends and customers.

If you would like to pay your respects, Bruce‘s funeral is at Grenoside Crematorium on Friday 3rd February 2023 at 12:00. The family expect large numbers and it may be standing room only but it seems fitting as he stood outside for us in all weathers, that we stand outside for him regardless of the weather.
