Brownie's Backyard

There is a 960 square foot vacant lot on N. Hobart Street in the Haddington section of Philadelphia. For over thirty years, it has been used as a dumping site, an unsanitary nuisance to the long time residents of the neighborhood. Efforts to keep the properties clean and clutter free have been met with inconsistency from the city to remove large debris. Large rodents have taken up residence and cause structural damage to adjacent properties when the weather drops and they seek warm refuge.
It is our desire to transform that space into an eco-friendly, outdoor learning environment for the youth in the immediate area. Donated funds will help with revamping the lot to provide security, landscaping, and safe, accessible structures for youth to interact with. We also plan to designate space for urban gardening. Efforts are currently underway to secure donated goods and services that will help transform this space. We will update as progress is made. We hope you consider contributing to the transformation of Brownie's Backyard!
