Support Brown Sugar, a BIPOC Literary Magazine!

“Womanist is to feminist as purple is to lavender.”

—Alice Walker

Brown Sugar is an online *womanist (*feminist of color) literary magazine for women, womxn, and womyn of color, of any nationality, sexuality, religion, or cultural diasporas that are misrepresented and underrepresented. This is a platform and space for womanists to take command of their creative expression. We aim to capture and promote the diverse cultures and living voices of women with all kinds of backgrounds and identities through poetry, prose, and art.

We are continuously and endlessly hoping to use donations to raise funds for printing purposes. We would like to have print copies of our magazine for the public and we are relying on donations and sales to run the magazine itself.

Please support if you are a lover of the literary arts, reading, and BIPOC creatives!

Follow us on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with all things Brown Sugar! (@brownsugarlit).

We currently have our first issue out for sale! "Metamorphosis" can be found in the Blurb Bookstore or click here for a direct link!

Our Literary Zine "Ordinary Happenings" can be found for free read here!
