Brother needs a lift

My younger brother Chris is wheelchair bound with cerebral palsy.  He has never owned a lift and has relied on the physical strength of family and caregivers to transfer him from bed to wheelchair and/or vehicle. Now, as an adult, he would greatly benefit from the security of a mechanical lift to transfer him as needed throughout the day.  The lift would benefit the caregivers as well, opening the door of opportunity for more individuals, with varying physical abilities to work with Chris.  It can  difficult to find caregivers capable of working with Chris because of the physical demands;  though he is very lean, he is a tall young man.

Some of you may know this is our second campaign to raise money for my brother Chris.  We were hesitant to start a second campaign so soon, but thanks to the incredible support of so many caring and generous individuals, we were persuaded to share this important need for Chris.

In our first campaign, “Brother needs a bath” we were able to raise MORE than enough money to purchase an accessible bath chair for Chris.  Many of the donors left comments saying, “I hope you exceed this goal as I am sure Chris has other needs as well.”

The cost of the lift is $3500.  We exceeded our last goal by $1000 and we have already deposited that money into this campaign putting us almost one third of the way to our new goal.  For the remaining $2500, a generous donor has pledged to match dollar for dollar - up to $1250.  Once we reach this goal, Chris will have his much needed lift. 

We so appreciate all of the generosity of those who donated in the first campaign.  We ask those who donated already to consider sharing this new campaign with others.  We also know there were some individuals who expressed a desire to donate to the bath chair campaign but weren’t able to at that time so, we welcome your support now as we work towards this new goal.
