Brooklyn is a very kind, sweet, loving girl who fell under some circumstances and needs some help.

On August 6th Brooklyn had surgery for a bilateral breast reduction that was deemed medically necessary for her chronic pain due to an autoimmune disease she had called mixed connective tissue disease.
After surgery Brooklyn felt great and was able to leave the hospital that day. The next day August 7th I took her to her follow up appointment in Owatonna, we were able to see the results that day and Brooklyn was very happy with the surgery. Friday August 9th Brooklyn was taken to the emergency room by another friend. She was treated in the emergency room for what the doctors thought was a UTI, she was sent home with antibiotics. That sunday August 11th, I was with Brooklyn most of the day and I could tell something was off. She was in a lot of pain and looked ill. She said she started to feel better after the antibiotics.

On August 13th, Brooklyn had a follow up appointment with her surgeon. That day the doctor removed her drains, and said she should start to feel better now that the drains were out.

On August 14th, I took Brooklyn to the emergency room, she had a lot of drainage coming out of her left breast and it was very alarming. We went to the emergency room and she was examined. After the emergency room doctors consulted with her plastic surgeon they made the decision to hospitalize her in Owatonna. Brooklyn was hospitalized, it was at the owatonna hospital that Brooklyn had become septic and was in shock. She was started on 2 different iv antibiotics, and other iv fluids.

On August 15th, the hospital doctor and Brooklyn's plastic surgeon had decided that she needed 2 blood transfusions and would continue the iv fluids and iv antibiotics. Brooklyn stayed in the hospital till late afternoon on Saturday the 17th.

During her hospital stay Brooklyn had a wound open up under her left breast along her bra line. The wound would need to be packed 2x daily with a wet to dry dressing.
As time went on the wound got bigger and deeper.

On wednesday August 21st Brooklyn's mom and I took her to the emergency room in Rochester at St. Mary's in Mayo. In Rochester she was examined by an amazing emergency room doctor, this doctor called a plastic surgeon in. The plastic surgeon came in and examined her wound and sent them to her superior. About an hour later the plastic surgeon's superior came in examined Brooklyn and came up with a plan. The plastic surgeon had decided to team up with Brooklyn's rheumatologist, a wound care specialist, and a dermatologist to devise a new plan for Brooklyn's care.

Brooklyn had a doctor appointment today, August 30th with a new plastic surgeon. Today Brooklyn got news of another set back. The doctor told Brooklyn she would be undergoing a mastectomy on Thursday September 5th. The surgery will be removing her left breast completely and the surgeon will be placing a wound vac right after surgery.

Brooklyn has a long road of recovery ahead of her and anything will help. Brooklyn is a bartender at The Aragon Bar, she does not have any paid time off or sick pay. She is a single income household and any money donated will go towards her monthly bills and for transportation to and from Rochester for the many  appointments she will have coming up.
