Brooklyn Center Little League needs your help

Donation protected

Where to begin.... this league has been around since 1958. Maybe you played there, or even your parents. I know my sister and I did, along with a lot of our childhood friends. Some of my fondest memories were created on these exact fields. There is something extremely nostalgic about these fields, the concessions stand, the announcer’s box, etc. This program has become a staple in creating life-long memories for families for generations. Aside from teaching youth the game of baseball, beginning with t-ball, there is a STRONG emphasis on teaching them sportsmanship, the benefits of teamwork, handling failure, learning to win with humility, resilience, how to handle pressure, among many other character-building qualities. This league is more of a family than anything. I’m proud to have my son learn to play ball on the same fields I grew up learning to play ball.

The league is in dire need of community support now, more than ever.

Last year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we weren’t able to coordinate a baseball season for these kids. No season also left us in a financial deficit. We were making due, but barely.

This past winter, there was a water pipe that burst, which caused the water to run for an unknown period of time until it was discovered in the spring, resulting in a $4,000+ water bill. In addition to the water bill, there was damage caused in the bathrooms rendering them unavailable for use. We recently we were finally ableto repair the damage to the restrooms and get them in operating order.

additinally, about 2 weeks ago, the freezer that we keep some of the concessions food in stopped working. A repair man came to look at it and determined that the compressor went ou. To repair, it would cost around $2,000. To replace the freezer altogether, it would cost roughly the same.

Lastly, with great sadness and heartache we learned this morning that last night (July 7th, 2021), somebody or a group of somebodies, destroyed the bathrooms. They were broken into and fires were set inside. It’s literally been one thing after the next over the past year.

The 3 aforementioned incidents are putting this league in a great financial deficit.

all of the maintenance performed at these fields is done on a volunteer basis. The lawn mowing, cleaning of the bathrooms, running concessions, announcing at games, chalking the fields, etc...

If you find yourself able to donate money through this fund raiser or if you can donate time, equipment, or materials through any means you may have, these kids would benefit greatly from your generosity. If you’re not currently in a position to donate, we would greatly appreciate it if you could at least share this fund raiser on any social media outlets that you’re active on in an effort to help us reach as many people as possible. These kids deserve more from their community than to have their amenities destroyed like this.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your time, attention, and any type of donations you’re able to provide.

Disclaimer: as the creator of this GoFundMe, it’s important to know that I am not and never have been a member of the board for this or any little league program. I am a parent with a child who is a member of this program and again, as stated above, I played here myself growing up.
