Bioness for Brooke

Brooke is 18 years old.  She loves her family, her friends, animals of all kinds, dancing and country music.  She graduated from KV High School in Wheatfield, Indiana in June 2014 and was headed to Purdue this fall to study to become a veterinarian.  Just about a week after graduation Brooke had a series of strokes that left her fighting for her life.  We felt so helpless as we stood by and watched her struggle to live. But because she is fierce and because so many people who love her were praying for her, she made it!  It has been a LONG road with lots of tests and therapies and more questions than answers, but Brooke has more fight in her than anyone I've ever known.  She's home now from the hospital.  She has extensive damage that affects the whole left side of her body, so she's had to learn to walk again and has had to adapt many activities so that she can perform them independently.   She goes to outpatient therapy almost every day and when she's not in therapy, she's working on her recovery at home - doing physical exercises and brain exercises - doing everything in her power to recover as much of her functioning as possible.  Her family helps with her transportation to therapy and medical appointments.  They haven't wanted to ask for help. But now they have a need.  There's an electronic stimulation system - called Bioness - that they believe is Brooke's best chance of recovering the fine motor ability in her left hand, but insurance considers it experimental and won't cover it.  We want to see Brooke have every possible resource to help her in her fight to recover and so we're asking for your help in raising the funds to purchase the Bioness system for her hand.
