A beloved member of our Georgia community is in need of our immediate help! Brooke Gallivan has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Those of us with the privilege of calling her a friend will tell you she is a generous, funny and truly caring person. Our heartfelt prayers are with Brooke as she takes on her fight against cancer. Brooke’s Diagnosis
At the young age of 28, it was a normal weekday in April as Brooke headed into her Midtown workplace when she went into a seizure. A kind passerby stopped to help and call 911. And, from that moment on, Brooke’s life turned. After several days in ICU and then follow-up testing, Brooke was told on May 15th that she has an inoperable brain tumor. She is now in an intense treatment program of chemo and radiation Monday thru Friday at the Emory Winship Cancer Center … needless to say the strong regiment of daily treatments is taking a heavy toll both emotionally and financially. But Brooke is strong, determined and a fighter!
She Can’t Do It Alone
As most know, Brooke is a very private person and she was initially determined to deal with her situation alone with just her family. After 6 weeks of treatment and getting to know other patients at Emory Winship, Brooke is now asking for prayers not only for herself, but for all the people at the cancer center. Yes, that’s the kind of person she is!
We know that fighting this brain tumor is a lifelong challenge, and Brooke cannot do it alone. Your prayers and support are so very important!
Brooke – Sister, Daughter & Friend
Brooke has 3 sisters – her triplet sisters Katy and Abbey, and big sister Megan. With parents Steve and Lynn, they are a very close family. Brooke is a 2007 graduate of Roswell High School (Georgia) and a 2012 graduate of Brown University (Rhode Island), where she has been a caring friend to many classmates and lacrosse teammates.
