As all of you know Alanna & I just got started on a move/roadtrip across the country and are both extremely excited about the new possibilities that await us.
Unfortunately we got as far as Santa Rosa before we broke down.
So what happened?
Not long before we bought the van the gentleman we purchased the van from just had the brakes replaced and, apparently, one of the mechanics at that shop over-tightened the bolt that holds together the wheel assembly on the front drivers side. This caused the whole thing to snap as we where rolling down the 101 on Sunday morning. I was able to safely get us off of the highway and pulled over. We were able to get a tow through insurance, but could only get towed to the Ford Dealership...
The people at the service center there were amazed that we were able to get off the road and didn't loose a wheel or crash. We do feel very thankful for that. Unfortunately, though, we got a repair estimate of $3,000. So that really sucks. Additionally, I'm still fighting for my unemployment. In the last 3 months I've made only $600 from them total, and have basically survived off the money from selling all my things, which was my trip money.
A couple friends want to help us out, which we really appreciate, and they said I should make a gofundme, which I really have never wanted to do. But, we're in a really rough spot right now. We understand times are tough for so many, so please don't feel obligated, but if you want to donate towards our repair costs/extra hotel stays/to go meals that we weren't accounting for, we'd be so grateful.
