The township of Broke NSW is urgently appealing for community support for flood affected families whose lives have been devastatingly impacted.
The July 6th 2022 flood was the most destructive recorded flood disaster in the history of our resilient village.
In the village of Broke, many families have lost their homes and belongings, and are facing lengthy and costly rebuilds. As of September 2022, many residents are still living in temporary accommodation or in caravans, and will not be able to return to their homes until 2023.
As a community we are rallying to support flood affected residents in their recovery. We have made progress with an extensive clean up of Broke village and properties devastated by the floods, with the strong support of Singleton Council, Glencore, the ADF, RFS and local community members.
Members of the Broke Residents Community Association are working hard to get much needed funds to the people who need it most. Through this campaign, we have already been able to purchase and distribute a significant amount of vouchers for hardware and rural supplies, groceries, and furniture for residents.
However, we still have a long road ahead of us and your continued support will help ease the struggle during a really challenging time for so many. With help from the wider community, we will continue to provide vouchers for residents to get them back into their homes as quickly as possible.
If you can offer anything in the way of donations, on behalf of the town, we would be truly grateful.
