Surgical error leads to severe financial struggle

Hello. I am trying to raise funds for my friend and Zen Buddhist teacher at Blue Mountain Zendo who recently went into a medical facility to correct a serious back injury from a few years ago. The surgery was supposed to take a few hours with him being laid up for about 5 days. What actually happened was that my good friend started to bleed out during surgery, died on the table and woke up 3 weeks after the surgery in another medical facility. Not only was he lost and confused but he could no longer feel his legs or move them. We spoke on the phone a few times and my friend Scott (Joriki) Baker who is usually a very positive human being was just broken. Unsure of when he was returning or if he could ever walk again was taxing on his spirit, but he remained optimistic. Fast forward a few more weeks and with some rehabilitation he is now starting to learn to walk again, but with difficulty. He also has learned that due to the medical complications there is now a sizable unforeseen out of pocket dollar amount that just wasn’t expected. This, along with now being unable to return to work has put a massive financial strain on a man who is a father, a husband and a Buddhist teacher who really should be just focusing on recovery. Just paying basic utilities have become a struggle. Scott’s wife is also feeling pressure as she has been missing a lot of work having to travel from their home in Bushkill PA to the medical facility in New York City. I rarely ask for help, he rarely asks for help, as it is one of the hardest things people have to do. This is one of those times where we feel it necessary to ask for help. This money will help Scott and his family bridge the gap between recovery and returning to work, as well as help set up a repayment plan for the unforeseen out of pocket expenses.
