Brockton Boxers - State Champions

Donation protected
We are excited to share with you that on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at The Conference Center at Massasoit here in Brockton, we will be celebrating the biggest feat of the Brockton High School’s (BHS) Boys’ Varsity soccer team through a community gala dinner.  Our goal is to capture their trajectory and show how proud we are of a small group of young men whose legacy will be followed by others.

After a hard-fought championship season, Brockton Boxer’s boys became the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division 1 State Champions.  This is the first state title in the history of the soccer program at BHS, and the first of any Brockton sports program in 10 years. The Boxers have also been named #7 in the nation by USA Today in its Sports Super 25 Expert Rankings.  These accolades are not based only on their phenomenal soccer skills, but they are also based on their sportsmanship and elegance as human beings.

The whole City of Champions embraced the Boys’ Varsity team with a wave of support and pride. At Brockton High they were showered with love, respect and attention the days after they skillfully won the South Regional tittle and the days prior to the state championship in Worcester.  The school’s band and cheerleaders accompanied them around the 4 houses while they greeted fellow students and exhibited their regional trophy.  On the night before the final game, there was a pep rally organized by Brockton City Hall as supporters turned out wearing the high school’s color, black and red.  Six school buses were provided by the Brockton Public Schools to transport 700 students, players’ family members and fans to support, cheer and chant the Brockton boys. The Boxers were invited to attend the City Council meeting where they received two citations: one from the city of Brockton and the other from Congressman Stephen Lynch. During the Thanksgiving weekend they were welcomed by their city, receiving the loudest rounds of applauses, when they paraded its streets on floats during Brockton’s annual downtown holiday parade.  On Tuesday, December 19th they will be honored at the School Committee.  In January they will be visiting the Massachusetts State House.

These 29 players and their coach have worked hard for this amazing opportunity, and they deserve our support and respect.  This is the reason why we are celebrating them.  This is the reason why we ask for your support by sponsoring the gala and by helping to defray the cost of this team’s celebratory trip to either New York City or Washington, D.C.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
