Broadway to Africa to fight poverty

Tax deductible
Hello Friends,

A beautiful opportunity to help children who are fighting poverty with the power of theater has come into my life and I want to invite you to be apart of it.   I had the great fortune of seeing and meeting the children of the Matsiko World Orphan Choir here in La Jolla.  These children from poverty stricken lands & the harshest of conditions lit up the stage and melted my heart! (video below)

I soon learned that they are apart of the International Children's Network (ICN), a 501c3 nonprofit who  combat poverty all over the world by providing these youth with the opportunity to go to school and so much more.  I asked how I can help.

The answer: Come to Liberia in West Africa and put on the first musical ever in that country to give these heartfelt youth a meaningful experience!  This epic event on September 8th 2018 will help ICN continue combating poverty by helping children get sponsors for an education, meals, medical help, and safety.

We are putting on THE WIZ!  And as you know, a musical not only provides youth with self-esteem building opportunities and hope but also further enriches and raises awareness for their entire community.  We will be filming the event and great work of the ICN so our efforts can go out to the world and save more children.  We need your help to make this happen and any tax-deductible donation will make a difference!

I have assembled a first rate team of artistic professionals who care about the children and are volunteering their time and talents.  Joining me on this journey I'm thrilled to present:

Amy Dolan-Fletcher: Broadway performer; Director/Choreographer; Theater Director at Venue Theatre in Colorado with a MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts & Community Outreach

Malini Singh McDonald: NYC based Director/Producer; Actress; Host of Theatre Beyond Broadway: The Podcast with an MFA in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School/New School University

Aaron Sanko: Performing Arts Executive, Producer, Musical Director with a degree in Music Education from Eastman School of Music and Entertainment Business at Full Sail University

James Cooper: Documentary Filmmaker & Producer; Performer with a BFA in Musical Theatre from University of Michigan

And of course myself
Tamlyn Brooke Shusterman: Producer, Broadway Performer, Rockette, Choreographer with a BFA from University of Michigan in Musical Theatre and an MA in Arts Administration from Columbia University

WE NEED YOUR HELP so I invite you to make any TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation you can.
Your funds will help:
-defray costs of the volunteer team going to Africa
-provide sets, props and costumes for the youth
-fund a documentary of this entire experience so we can raise awareness around the world to fight poverty and lift our youth

The mission of International Children's Network  is to provide as many of our world's 600 million orphaned and at-risk children sponsorship for a complete education through their nation's highest university or vocational levels. By doing so, every child will be on equal footing with their nation's most privileged children.  They will return to their villages to help other children who are in the same condition they once were in order to break the cycle of utter dependency and despair and replace it with empowerment and hope!

The International Children's Network (ICN) began it's choir program in 2008 with the first US tour of the Matsiko Children's Choir.  Matsiko is a Ugandan word for "hope".  This word embodies both the children and the songs that they sing. Through the Matsiko World Orphan Choir, thousands of children will be reached with the hope of a brighter future.

I hope you will join our cause and follow our journey.  Thank you for your donation.

With gratitude,
Tamlyn Brooke Shusterman
