On July 18, 2014 my brother's wife Rhea underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor the size of a marble. The tumor was found In June after Rhea had been suffering from severe headaches, blurred vision, fatigue and many other symptoms.
After MRI's and other tests it was determined that the tumor was in the dura layer of the brain lining. The nerve layer. And sat on the motor sensory strip which is both why she has had so many symptoms and why the tumor had to be removed.
The concern was that if it got even a centimeter bigger in one direction she could have seizures, or in the other direction it would grow into her sinus cortex from which it could not be surgically removed.
Rhea married my brother Tyler in 2007. They live with their 4 children in Provo, Utah. From the early symptoms to the diagnosis and surgery the family has faced stressful and worrisome days. Now that Rhea is on the path to full recovery their future looks bright as ever.
Through this experience Rhea and her family have remained optimistic. After surgery Rhea referred to herself as "Strong Fierce Warrior Princess." They have also acknowledged the strength that has come from their faith and the countless prayers and thoughts from others.
There is more we can do to help! Unfortunately this experience has also presented a financial burden. Along with the medical bills, Tyler has had to take unpaid absences from work in order to be by Rhea's side. Rhea has chosen not to return to work so she can focus on recovery and her family. Fortunately they have been blessed with good insurance, but we can help make up the difference by raising money to be paid toward these expenses.
