We, Rianne Appel & Vitalija Danivska, are two workplace scientists that are frustrated by the fact that much scientific knowledge does not reach workplace managers and office employees in practice. Common irritations of the office workplace (for example noise, lack of privacy) do not get solved. And where will we work once the Covid-19 pandemic is solved? Science has created a lot of evidence to answer these questions and optimize your work environment! It has also found proof why it is so important for companies and employees to create a more optimal workplace.
Therefore, we gathered 68 scientists from across the globe to write down the most important insights from 39 different theories in two books for our series called Transdisciplinary Workplace Research & Management. These will explain:
book 1) how to manage office workplaces more strategically and more people/service-oriented.
book 2) how to optimize the fit between people and their individual workplace.
These books will be very valuable for workplace managers/consultants, but also for office employees themselves.
The chapters in these books will tell you what your office and home workplace should look like, and why you need it to be that way; for reasons of your wellbeing, productivity, need for privacy and other human needs. You can all use the summed up knowledge to convince your boss and/or facility manager to give you the best workplace solution at work for your individual needs/tasks.
The books will be published in spring 2021 by Routledge handbooks. However, buying both of them would cost you about €300,-. We want to make all the chapters of these books freely downloadable, so that everybody can read them for free! We have already collected some funds for that, but not yet enough! We hope to gather the rest of the necessary money through crowdfunding. The more money we can collect, the more chapters of these books we can make freely downloadable for everybody.
