Keep Dante at Home

Donation protected
Dante was brought here from Peru as a baby with his parents who came here with a work visa for his father's company. He lived in Georgia until he came to Virginia and attended North Stafford High school and graduated in 2013.

Since Dante was born in Peru, he is technically not a US citizen.

On the 26th of February, Dante was taken from our home while he was sleeping by Homeland security. Ever since then he has been in ICA Detention Center in Farmville, Virginia. He is awaiting a hearing date to find out whether or not he gets to stay in the states.

When I went to visit him, he told me he was doing okay. He is just scared of what is going to happen to him. If he is forced to leave the United States, it would be life changing for him and leave a negative impact. He told me in the detention center he is the only one who knows how to speak English and can communicate with any of the authorities there. "I'm probably the only one here who can say the pledge of allegiance."

It's not fair for someone to come to the United States (not even by choice) as a baby, be raised in the states, go to school and graduate in the states, work in the states, build friendships and relationships with people in the states, fall in love with someone in the states, all to be forced to leave at 20 years old.

I'm honestly in love with Dante, and to have him leave would break my heart multiple times over. Just since he has been gone for a week, I have had trouble sleeping knowing he's not where he should be. And I'm scared. I don't want him to struggle in a subpar country and do it all by himself. I see a future with him. I want to marry him one day and start a family, but I want it to be done right, not forced in order to get him to stay. I want us to grow together and go to school and work together and when we have our lives settled, make our commitment together official by getting married. I love him, and I don't want to be without him forever.

We can help Dante stay in the states, but he is going to go through a lot in order to stay. He is going to need a good lawyer to convince the judge that this is, in fact, his home. He needs to fill out a bunch of applications. It's going to take a lot of support from his friends and family and each and every one is already so ready to help as much as they can. We have started by each committing to write a letter vouching for Dante, how we met him, how he is a good kid, with a kind heart that just loves cars and being around his loved ones.

All of these GoFundMe proceedings are going to go towards getting Dante the best lawyer, fill out the appropriate applications, such as Form I-130 and Form I-485, get him out of that detention center that he doesn't belong in, and doing everything we can to prevent him from having to return to Peru.

-Imagine being forced on a plane and sent away from your home and away from your family and friends to a foreign country to never return. Getting off the plane and looking around the airport saying "Where am I? What do I do now? What is this culture like and how am I going to live?" Being alone in a country you don't know. How would you feel?

Thank you everyone.
