Stuck in India
As some of you may know, my brother ward and I have set out on a very long, exhausting, emotional and frustrating journey to India to bring back my nephew Jayden.
Here's our story:
Two Fridays ago my mom received a call from foreign affairs saying Jayden had been arrested for wandering the streets. He wasn't doing anything wrong but they were worried about his safety. They could not tell us his whereabouts because of the privacy act. After a whole weekend of frantically searching and coming up empty handed we finally received another call from foreign affairs that Jayden gave his permission to tell his family.
It took the whole weekend for someone to go get his permission
Upon finding out, Ward and I began making arrangements with the help of some amazing friends who know India to travel there and to bring Jayden home. We had no idea for what lie ahead. We had to first fly to Vancouver to get our emergency visas then continue on for 36 hours of travel. We left on Tuesday March 3rd. We thought we would go to the hospital and pick him up and bring him home. Instead, found him locked in a mental hospital that is disgusting and filthy and unimaginable. Somehow, during his arrest or his previous travels he lost his whole bag with all his ID. Luckily upon his arrest he remembered his passport number and grandmas phone number.
We have spent days and days in the police station, the consulate office, the foreign regional registration office, the courthouse and on and on. We have a friend who is Chief Inspector in another city in India helping us immensely. We have spent somewhere around 24 hours driving back and forth from city to city trying to please the court and get the proper documents and fulfill their requests only to find they have more requests. The Dr at the hospital gave a discharge upon our first day of arrival but the court wouldn't accept that alone. Then they wanted a detailed report from the hospital saying Jayden isn't dangerous and is safe to travel. The Dr sent that report with the superintendents approval and signature pleading that Jayden be released but somehow it's gone missing and has not reached the court. (This document is a condition of his release but where has it gone?). The Dr says Jayden is like a son to him and wants nothing more than his release. Each time we go to court the judge gives more conditions. We are working tirelessly just spinning our wheels many days we start early in the morning and don't even take a break to eat until we get home late at night and then drop into bed exhausted. The court says because he is in a mental hospital they can't be sure he's safe to be released and safe to travel home. However he was only arrested for his own safety and no charges were laid and the doctor wants him released. We don't understand how this can be happening. We need help!
Jayden seems his normal self he is grateful for family assistance and hope of returning home but each time we are promised his release it gets taken away. We don't understand their laws, their systems and most frustratingly their language but we re doing our best.
After over a week here in India we are still being denied because of yet more paperwork. I can't even begin to touch on the run around, the miscommunications, and the delays. We get different responses from everyone we ask. Something is not right. If you know Jayden and can attest to his good character please help bring us all home by sending your pleas to the high commission in India immediately to:

And please pray for our safe and quick return.

Thank you very much
