Bring Casey Home to Knox Homecoming

Dear friends of the Knox College Class of '87,
I am currently serving as a Fellow in Global Health Clinical Education in service with the Global Health Service Partnership. The partnership includes Peace Corps, Seed Global Health and The President's Emergency Program for Aids Relief (PEPFAR). This is my second year as a Fellow, and I am teaching at Muni University (MU) in Arua, West Nile Uganda. At MU, I am an Assistant Lecturer in Nursing. Last August, 2016, I was part of the faculty that kicked off a brand new bachelor of science in nursing program (BScN). Muni is the 6th public university in Uganda, and we are the first program to offer BScN in the West Nile Region. This week we will bring in a new freshman class of 40 students that will have representation from every region in Uganda.
Ultimately, with all of the background above, I am working as a Peace Corps volunteer which has been a financial sacrifice beyond the personal challenges of being far away from home. This fundraiser is being set up to bring me home to Knox College for our 30th reunion. I have spoken to the Alumni Office at Knox and I have been asked to participate in Peace Corps related homecoming events through the Stellyes Center for Global Studies where Peace Corps and other organizations will be represented by alums who are out there doing good work. I will also hope to be part of a team that provides mock interviews for students interested in doing international development work. My goal in coming to Knox is to give back to the students presently on campus. And of course, I want to take advantage of the gathering of old friends, many of us who have kept in touch for over 30 years.
I am asking you all to raise $4000 dollars to support my plane ticket and some small travel expenses that I will incur to make the programs mentioned above possible for me to attend.
On this trip I will also arranged to do talks at U. Portland School of Nursing (SON), Linfield (SON) - Portland, OR, U California San Francisco Center for Global Health, U Colorado at Colorado Springs SON, possibly Rush U. Chicago (SON), as well as the talks mentioned at Knox.
I can't thank you enough for your consideration of supporting me in this journey. I am grateful to have life long friends at Knox. It will always be a place I call home.
