Bring pregnancy film CELESTE IN SPRING to life!

Hello! My name is Kat Mills Martin, I'm a filmmaker, writer, and facilitator sharing at the intersection of creativity, myth, and body-based healing. Over the past year, I had the desire to create a film about pregnancy in a way that we haven't seen before.

CELESTE IN SPRING is a short film about a single, pregnant woman exploring her sexuality in the third trimester. It was important for me to make this film with a REAL pregnant person. Félixe de Becker is a French/Belgian actress and filmmaker, and also happens to be a former yoga student of mine! When I ran into Félixe at a local juice shop and saw she was eight months pregnant, I loosely pitched her this idea. Acting opposite her is Félixe's real-life partner, Chilean actor and Commedia dell'arte performer, Diego de Los Andes. Though this is a fictional project, working with a true couple allowed us to document a special moment in time before their daughter arrives! We moved forward with the shoot swiftly to ensure we could cover our bases before Félixe takes maternity leave.

As a longtime student of the body and birth, as well as feminine spirituality and mythology, I've often dreamed of a project that could weave these important topics together in a truthful and nuanced way. Pregnancy and birth are so vastly misrepresented in media, and this film depicts these powerful rites of passage from an empowered and embodied perspective.
