Help Scarlett Hill Emergency Fund after hit & run

While walking home from Westerwood at 2am on Oct 16, Scarlett was struck by a driver in a hit and run and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where she is now in a coma in the ICU.

 

She is suffering from severe brain trauma, extensive broken bones including her jaws/shoulders/clavicles/back/pelvis, and will need surgery on one of her legs. She will have a tracheotomy and possible feeding tube placed, as well as her jaws wired soon to start the surgery process.

The coma is not medically induced and there is no estimate for when she will wake up, but we are hopeful as Scar is very tough and has been through medical extremes before! There is evidence that her brain has responded to pain so that is good news!!

 

We originally set up this fundraiser to get some cash together to help get her twin Madi and their mom Coral a flight from Montana to Greensboro, a place to stay for a minute while they are here, and some money for food and rides back and forth to the hospital once Scarlett is awake.

As of 11pm Oct 16 we have hit our travel goal of $4k and have increased the goal. Thank you to everyone who has shared and contributed.

We will continue to raise money to assist Scarlett with rent, medical fees, bills, food, family needs, etc.  She will need everything we can spare to help.
This will be a long, hard road and we can help make it a little easier for her and her family!!  

 

Once we know more about Scar’s condition and road to rehab, we will be able to share more with her and her family’s consent.

How the money will be withdrawn:

My name is Janie Ledford and I live in Greensboro, NC. I am best friends with Scarlett, and share a studio space with her downtown. I am working closely with her father, step mother, sister and mother to coordinate this fundraiser while they are at the hospital and dealing with travel and planning.
I am helping coordinate finances for Scarlett’s bills and her family’s needs. I will be transferring a portion of the money to her father, Jay, via Venmo so that he can purchase plane tickets, hire a Rover sitter for Madi and Coral’s pets, buy groceries for their stay, and secure a rental car.
I will pay Scarlett’s rent/bills directly from the funds for the foreseeable future.
The remaining money for her medical bills will be transferred from me and deposited into Scarlett’s banking account once she is awake and we are able find a deposit slip or digitally deposit via information needed from her. This money will her secure in Scarlett’s name and will be used for any equipment needed for rehabilitation, her wellbeing, medication, treatment and comfort.
