Misty was just told by her insurance company that they refuse to pay because her daughter was living in California.  Even though Misty was still supporting her and her daughter hadn't even been there a month.  Karissa didn't have a permanent residence in California.  She told her mama that she wasn't sure she could stay there because her family was here in Omaha.  Her total dollar amount to bring her home and bury her has come to well over $12,000.00 and that doesn't include the flight Misty had to make to go out there.   I am heartbroken for Misty.


My cousin Misty (Buckley) Mendicino has suffered the loss of her only daughter Karissa K. Jones last night in a tragic accident.  Karissa just turned 21 last month and was going to move to California to spread her wings as many young adults do.  She was hiking and slipped on a rock into the river and drowned.  They tried very hard to revive her, but the Good Lord had a different plan for my little cousin Karissa.  Misty was only given until Monday morning to come to California to claim her baby girl.  She got a flight out today.  We aren't sure on the costs to bring her home or the entire funeral costs as of yet.  Misty has a small insurance policy, but it will not be enough to cover even 1/4 of what is needed.   I am asking for any kind of help so that her mama can bury her baby.  Misty has two other children, Johnny & Camdyn.   The last thing my cousin Misty said to me before she boarded her flight today was, "I just need to hold my baby girl."  Our family’s hearts are broken and I can only imagine her pain.  Thank you all in advance.  May God bless us all.  God speed Karissa.  We all love you so much.
