On 14 october my 21 week pregnant wife told me she wanted to go to the hospital because something didnt feel right. I tried calming her down and telling her it's extremely unlikely for something to be wrong with the baby this late in the pregnancy. But just to be safe we went anyways so we could be reassured that our baby is ok! After about 2 hours of waiting we were finally seen and met with the most gut wrenching news we've ever heard..."theres no heart beat..." not knowing what to do we left the gynecologist and went to the hospital. The doctors there informed us that since she was so far along she had to naturally birth the baby. They gave her the medicine to induce labor and said "it can take 3 hours or it can take 4 days. Theres no way to be certain." 16 october at 8:07 my wife finally births the baby. Still not knowing the gender they took our child away so they could clean it up for us to see it and say our goodbyes. Shortly after my wife had her surgery to remove her cervix and the rest of the amniotic sac they told us they would bring our baby boy up so we can say our goodbyes. The original word we were told is cremation for humans was illegal in Germany but cremation for animals was ok. Just today we were told because I'm an american soldier they will allow us to cremate our son so we can take him home. The only catch is since it's technically not allowed for germans (my wife.) But it is allowed for me they're going to charge us €1200. We can not afford this right now and were not prepared for any of this to happen. To add even more stress to the situation the army denied my family life insurance which would have granted my wife and I $10,000 to handle all the mortuary issues. The regulation stated "the stillborn child must weigh 350 grams OR have been birthed within the 20th pregnancy week." My child was 212 grams and was born in the 21st week. I was just informed that the regulation changed and now requires both 350 grams and 21 weeks.

Anything helps. We thank you all for anything you guys can offer.
