Hello, my name is Giselle Cruz. I am a UCSB graduate and Nebraska College of Law student, but most importantly I am the daughter of two amazing immigrants, Abel and Anna. On October 14, 2026, we got heartbreaking news. My dad, Abel Cruz, was detained by ICE on his way to work. This is a sad reality that many of us in our community are facing.

My father has been in this country for 30 years. He’s a college-educated Electrical Engineering graduate from Oaxaca, Mexico, his home state. He’s raised three amazing sons: Sergio, a US Marines veteran of the Iraq war and now a LAPD officer; Cesar, a San Diego County Probation Officer; and Abel Jr., a Cal State San Marcos graduate.

Without our father, we wouldn’t be where we are today. He’s worked tirelessly to make sure we could be happy and achieve our dreams. Today, I humbly ask for your help in getting my father home. These funds will help my father and our family as we join the thousands of other families navigating the immigration system in the United States. Donated funds will go toward attorney fees, potential bond, detention-related expenses, and living expenses. Any amount of help is greatly appreciated. I truly appreciate your time .
