Brigid's run for Tommy

Hi, my name is Brigid Muller, a senior at Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor, NY,  and I am running The Marine Corps Marathon virtually with my dad on the weekend of October 24, 2020. As this pandemic posed many challenges for us, I decided to take up this challenge of running 26.2 miles that originally started with me training to beat an 8 minute mile for my fall soccer tryout.   As my running increased and my desire to do a marathon became a reality, I  decided that I want to run this marathon for more than just myself. My cousin Tommy was diagnosed with a chromosome abnormality called 49ers before he was even born. I never thought anything of chromosome abnormalities until I found out about my cousin’s condition. My aunt and uncle did an abundance of research before and after he was born. They informed my family about all these abnormalities, especially 49ers. Since then, I have tried to educate myself more on the topic and it has become near and dear to me. Although my cousin, Tommy, has faced an abundance of challenges in his life, he is constantly overcoming each one little by little. He lights up a room anywhere he goes. He has truly been a blessing to me. I hope you will consider donating some money to this charity, The Focus Foundation, (https://thefocusfoundation.org/) which aids families who have family members with this condition. This charity began in 2002 and has been constantly growing to meet the needs of families.  I understand that this is a rough time for some people, but anything helps! Thank you so much!
