My dad has cancer, and may I just say, it has been one of the worst experiences ever. For him. For me. For everyone involved.
He was diagnosed less than a month before my college graduation. I didn't leave my apartment for two days after finding out. My heart was broken. I felt a hole in my chest and nothing and no one could fill it.
My dad. My only dad. My only parent. He has cancer.
He's been experiencing painful, bloody, tissue-filled urination since October and it took months to get him seen by a doctor. They put him on antibiotics for two weeks, but nothing changed. They then scoped him and we learned he had tumors in his bladder and prostate. The doctors scheduled him for surgery to remove the tumors, and my dad prepared me for a probable cancer diagnosis. A few days later, he was still experiencing painful, bloody discharge in his urine and went back to see the urologist. They checked him out again, determined the tumors were back, determined the tumors were cancerous, and decided his bladder and prostate needed to be removed.
My dad has stage 2 cancer in his bladder and prostate. He lost his job, he can't get unemployment without causing a hold on his disability application, and he can't get disability without waiting.
So now, we wait. We wait for chemo. We wait for bladder/prostate removal surgery. We wait for disability to deny his application. We wait to reapply.
We wait for help.
There have been so many unexpected issues popping up, preventing him from getting treatment. This is going to be a very long, expensive process and I need help getting my dad through it. I've taken on some of his expenses to ease his burden. Until he gets better and can get back to work, this is how it has to be.
Please consider donating to help him make it through this without such a financial burden. My dad is the silliest, most caring person out there. I don’t want to see him suffer any more from this cancer.
