Greetings,
My name is Bria C. Smith and I am a third year Professional Theatre BFA student, with a concentration in acting at North Carolina A&T State University. It is with great pleasure to announce that I have been accepted to study abroad at the British American Drama Academy’s (BADA) Midsummer in Oxford Program. BADA is based in Magdalen College on Oxford University’s campus. This program is a four week long acting intensive in association with Yale School of Drama that accepts only 90 actors each year. During my time at BADA, I will have the opportunity to learn and focus on British acting techniques, with emphasis on Shakespeare. I will be working alongside faculty of leading British theatre experts and faculty from top American graduate programs.
Graciously, I was given a scholarship of $1,000 from BADA, but unfortunately the scholarship only covers part of my expenses; it does not cover my remaining tuition balance and accommodation fees. With your help, I would be able to study under highly qualified and established actors, meet and build long lasting relationships with other creatives alike, and hone my craft as an actress, which will enrich my accessibilities to further my studies in graduate school. Theatre has been my passion ever since my third grade teacher gave me the opportunity to perform in the school play as Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web. Ever since then, theatre has taught me so much about life and how the art of storytelling can not only entertain others, but help people gain a new perspective and ultimately walk in their truth.
I am truly appreciative for any amount donated to me. The cost breakdown for the BADA Midsummer in Oxford, England program 2018 is as follows:
Tuition: $3,960 (Due: April 30, 2018)
Accommodation: $2,990 (Due: May 15, 2018)
Less Scholarship: $1,000
Airfare: $1,500
Total Fees: $7,450
