Brian Simons Recovery Fund

Our 21 year old son Brian was the victim of a pedestrian hit and run in Minneapolis on July 25th. After a night of fireworks and fun with friends he was hit while crossing the street and the driver made no attempt to stop. The impact was so hard it not only blew his tied shoe from his foot, but his sock too. He suffered fractures to his skull/sinus/leg/ankle, a broken eye socket, stapled head wound, small bleeds and a hematoma on the brain, hearing loss and a moderate TBI. He is alive and neurologically intact only by the grace of God.

Brian has been living independently for 2 years in NW Wisconsin and was working hard at a job he loved before his world was turned upside down. He is currently unable to work or drive. He is a kayak guide/instructor and resort staff for an outfitter in River Falls so it will be some time before he can return, if at all this season. Thanks to the continuous support of incredible friends he's been able to remain in his apartment. Brian has significant follow up care with several specialists in Minneapolis. Funds raised will be used for immediate needs like rent, utilities and food along with unknown medical costs.

Some coverage is available through our auto insurance (even though he was a pedestrian) but that process can't start until the case with the PD is closed. Since our medical insurance will claim damages first it is likely the auto insurance coverage will be depleted before his expenses are covered.

A press release is coming and will be shared in an update when available. It is our hope that one of the many good people of Minneapolis will come forward and identify the driver. In the mean time Brian would like to find the woman that helped him regain consciousness and stayed with him until EMS arrived. He remembers she wore a necklace with a gold letter A pendant. Maybe she will see this and contact us so he can thank her ❤

Please pray for continued healing and complete recovery.
