Breya's advanced Scoliosis journey

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Breyan. I am 12 years old. 3 years ago when I was 9 I was diagnosed with Junior Idiopathic Scoliosis, which is curvature of the spine.  After only 2.5
years, my spine has gone from 21 to 43 degrees. I now have advanced Scoliosis and if I don't try to do something to fix it, as I continue to grow over the next 2 to 3 years my spine will continue to curve to the point where I will have no choice but to undergo a very big and difficult back surgery.

There is a program 6 hours from my home in Toronto Canada, the only one of it's kind in our country that could not only help stop my spine from getting much worse but also correct it and possibly make my spine completely straight again. In order for me to go to Toronto, my mom will need to take time off of work and we will need to stay in an appartment not far from the Scoliosis Centre. I truly hope the program that my new Chiropractor Dr. Kang in Toronto has been trained in from the United States called the CLEAR approach (from the clear-institute.org) is what saves me from having to get a very serious operation in the next few years that will require for my spine to be fused together and for 2 metal rodes as well as screws to be placed along each side of my spine. My Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario CHEO here in Ottawa - Dr. Jarvis says that because of where my Scoliosis is (in my lower spine) the operation on my spine would not be ideal and would give me the least amount of mobility for the remainder of my life and also could possibly cause a number of other really bad side affects.

The most important thing right now is for me to learn how to train the muscles beside my spine to be strong and stay strong (through the CLEAR approach) plus for the next 3 years I will have to wear the GOSS Scoliosis back brace to try and stop my curve from progessing, help straighten my spine and realign my posture. Unfortunately, everything I have to do for my
back to try and make it better so that I don't have to get the really big operation in a few years is not covered by Canada's health insurance. My parents will have to
pay approximately $12,000 for the CLEAR program, the GOSS back brace, accommodations in Toronto and follow-up appointments over the next year.  I am scheduled to start the CLEAR approach program in Toronto November 13th, 2017.  I am writing to you today to see if you might be able to help me in any way? Any donations you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated. I will keep you up to date regarding my journey and with the progress of my Scoliosis.

Thank you so much,
❤️Breyan
