As many of you know, Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, TX and its surrounding areas. Katy, TX was one of the areas that was greatly affected by the vast amount of water from Harvey. Unfortunately, as a result of Hurricane Harvey, our family home was not spared.
On August 28th, the water began entering the home. With help from a few friends and neighbors, my family was rescued by boat and brought to safety. But a couple feet of water destroyed the entire first floor of the house, garage and my sister’s vehicle. Every single piece of furniture and appliance had to be thrown away, and most of my dad’s medical equipment was also lost.
In the past couple of weeks, we have torn apart the house to start the road to recovery. Due to the storm, my dad is now in an assisted living facility, but he will continue to need ongoing, around-the-clock care. We recognize this will be a long and difficult process, but we’re overwhelmed with the outpouring love and support our family has already received. My family will get through this time with the help and love from people like you.
