Brent Nielsen Family Medical Bills

Prayers for Brent Nielsen's Stroke, Brain Surgery, Recovery & Therapy.

On Tuesday March 13th, our beloved father, brother, friend and husband Brent Nielsen suffered a stroke to his left cerebellum due to a vertebral artery dissection in his neck. After being rushed from Mountain point hospital to the U of U hospital, he suffered a SECOND stroke to his right cerebellum on March 14.

He was rushed into surgery early on March 15 where surgeons removed a portion of his skull bone in back and opened the dura (thick membrane that surrounds the brain) and stitched in a dural graft to give more room for the brain swelling. They also drilled into the front of his skull and placed an EVD (external ventricular drain) to monitor and control pressure in his brain.

While there was a time where it looked like we might lose Brent, through much faith, fasting and prayers, Brent began to improve and his swelling began to go down. He has turned a corner and is on the road to recovery.

Brent will need to re-learn many things including how to balance and walk again, and gain control over the left side of his body. Though the road may be difficult and take some time, Brent and his family are very determined to do the work needed for a full recovery.
