Hi, everyone. I'm Brennan Lowrey and I'm 16 and a sophomore at Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Arkansas. I've just found out that I have been accepted to Interlochen Arts Camp's six week High School Summer Orchestra program on violin! As far as I know, no one from my hometown has ever been to Interlochen before.
To let you know a little bit about myself, I started taking violin lessons a little over 7 years ago and have become completely hooked. Pretty much everything I spend my time on is creative. When I'm not practicing or performing, I'm composing, writing short stories or working on a novel. I play with the Arkansas Symphony Youth Orchestra, and at school I am a member of the Sheridan High School Concert Choir. Our school does not have an orchestra program, so being able to spend a summer immersed in orchestra every day would be incredible.
The exciting thing to me about Interlochen is that in addition to the amazing instruction and performance opportunities with the orchestra program, I may also get to spend time working on composition. This is completely my dream summer!
However, we have a huge hurdle to get me there. Michigan is a long way from Arkansas, and while the camp has graciously provided financial aid, I will still need about $6,500 to get me there. That amount includes the remaining tuition, the cost of uniforms, and travel expenses to get me to and from the camp. My family is very supportive, but we do not have a lot of financial resources and could really use your help. Any amount you could give would be really appreciated!
